Description

|Pre-requisite: Successful completion of the CFSC course and both the written and practical exams

  • Approximate time frame: Minimum 8 hours plus testing and break times
  • Learning Structure: Combined lecture and hands-on training
  • Course highlights: Learn how to safely handle, load and unload common handgun actions

This course is required to be able to buy and own restricted firearms for any legally recognized purpose in Canada.

You will be instructed in their safe handling, including the legal requirements of transporting, storage, and display of restricted firearms.

The CRFSC courses will be held in Unit 21, Upper Floor, 1110 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, ON

The class size is limited to 10 people, so that everyone gets enough time handling the firearms and becoming familiar with them. The course will have both theory and practical handling of disabled firearms (real guns, but unable to fire).

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning and class will start at 9 a.m., and will cover the restricted firearm group; pistol and revolver action types.

Blackpowder firearms will be discussed, but not handled. There will be several handling portions where everyone in turn gets to handle and learn the different types of action. The course will have written and practical testing; the practical testing is required to be one-on-one with the examiner, so the order in which people finish the written test is the order in which the practical tests are done. This will mean, on average, that the day can stretch to around 7pm, depending on student testing ability.
