What is the CFSC?

CFSC stands for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, which is the first step in obtaining your firearms license for non-restricted firearms in Toronto or any other place in Canada. The course has a minimum number of required hours (8), not including breaks or meals, to ensure enough handling time for the action types each student is required to show competency with. Subjects covered include ammunition, firearms safety, firearms function, legal and social responsibilities and more.

It is expected that each student will be able to pick up any requested firearm and show that the firearm is unloaded via the ACTS/PROVE system, and students are given time and instruction to internalize how this is done. Hands on training with the disabled firearms is done several times during the day to allow students to become familiar with the different actions commonly available on the Canadian firearms market.

At the end of the day, there is a written and practical exam, which will include information covered by the course.

Note that if you wish to buy restricted firearms as well, the CFSC is required before being able to take the restricted firearms course, known as the CRFSC.
